NSW: Bones found near Sydney national park

SYDNEY, Aug 16 AAP - Scientific tests will be carried out on human remains found near
a national park south of Sydney.

Police say a passer-by on Wednesday found the bones and clothing in bushland near the
boundary of the Heathcote National Park.

"A crime scene was set up and inquiries are continuing," a NSW Police spokesman told AAP today.

Sutherland Police told Fairfax newspapers the bones, including a skull were lying 100m
off a fire trail running behind the Burns Road light industrial complex area at Heathcote.

Some of the remains had been scattered over a wider area, probably by animals, the
newspaper reports.

Police told Fairfax the remains were not those of missing Cronulla man Matthew Leveson,
20, last seen in September last year.

Mr Leveson's lover Michael Peter Atkins, 45, was this month charged with his murder.
