NSW: Jury out at sex worker murder trial
SYDNEY, April 19 AAP - A NSW Supreme Court jury has started deliberations in the trial
of a man accused of murdering a sex worker in Sydney almost 12 years ago.
Richard Edward Dorrough, 32, was arrested more than a decade after the death of Rachael
Campbell, 29. DNA had linked him to the crime.
Ms Campbell's naked body was found wrapped in two blankets and a sheet in the car park
of St Joseph's Church at Rosebery on November 7, 1998.
The crown alleges Dorrough had sex with Ms Campbell before murdering her during a violent
struggle, in which he bit her and tried to strangle her and before stabbing her to death.
Dorrough has pleaded not guilty.
His defence barrister has referred the jury to a number of other suspects, including
Ms Campbell's boyfriend at the time, who has since died, as well as other clients.
Justice David Kirby sent the jury out to decide their verdict at about 11.30am (AEST) on Monday.
