NSW Man pleads guilty to Sydney pub manager murder

SYDNEY, April 28 AAP - A man today pleaded guilty to murdering Sydney pub manager MarkJackson during a robbery two years ago.

Garry Anthony Smale entered the plea in the NSW Supreme Court today.

He will now face murder charges alongside his co-accused Shayne John Wigney who hadalready pleaded guilty to murder.

Mr Jackson, 34, was gunned down as last drinks were being served at the Taverners HillHotel in Leichhardt about 2.30am on July 19, 2001.

It is alleged Wigney and Smale burst into the pub wearing balaclavas before attemptingto steal cash from the premises.

Mr Jackson was fatally shot in the chest by one of the men after a struggle broke out.

Justice Michael Adams adjourned the proceedings until May 12 when the Crown will makeits sentencing submissions for the pair.
